A bull flag is a sharp rise (the pole) followed by a short, gently falling channel (the flag); a break above the flag usually resumes the rise.

How the bull flag works
After a strong move up, price rests in a tight, slightly downward channel while early buyers take profit. Volume typically fades during the flag.
It is a continuation pattern: it expects the prior trend to carry on.
